The Burbank Rancho District is the most unique area of all of Los Angeles County mostly because it is one of the few areas you’ll see horses tied up outside a restaurant . There are 54 miles of horse trails in The Burbank Rancho District and some of the best riding in all of Southern California. This is a pretty laid back area of Burbank. It is not uncommon to see people riding their horses along Riverside Drive, or to see a horse tied up outside Viva Cantina waiting for their rider to finish lunch. This is one of the few areas of Los Angeles County where you can keep a horse in your backyard and many people do. The homes in the Burbank Rancho are a bit more expensive than the rest of Burbank and are few and far between because of how special the area is and because the Rancho is made up of under 1000 homes. Imagine getting up in the morning, going to your backyard, saddling up your mare and heading across the bridge and into the hills of Griffith Park. I spent many an early morning up in those hills with my horse Shiva watching the sun rise and I can tell you there is nothing like it. For those of you that like to ride but don’t have your own horse there are a few places that offer rental horses and trail rides.
